Abstinence-only programs don't work

The headline says it all. Sex education programs that harp on abstinence without telling students about using contraception and preventing diseases do not work. They do not reduce the number of sexually transmitted diseases. They don't reduce the number of pregnancies. Programs that explain contraception and condom use do both.
